Printmaker

Julie Winter is a dedicated printmaker and arts educator, currently pursuing her graduate degree at Pacific Northwest College of Art.

Julie earned her BA from the University of Washington and credits A6 as her art school in printmaking. Julie grew up in Ohio with rolling farmlands and limestone fences lining the roads. She moved to her parent’s birth place of Seattle, WA and found connection to place through family, Puget Sound sea water with tides and mountains. Since moving to Bend, OR in 2009, Julie’s inner landscape has opened up to the spacious Central Oregon high desert with rocks and rivers. All of this informs her artwork as she looks to the patterns and textures in nature and recycled materials to create whatever comes out on the paper. Julie lets the printmaking processes themselves guide the direction of the finished work. “I love exploring all the marks possible with printmaking; it is endless and full of wonder.”
