Printmaker

Julie Winter is a printmaker, educator and graduate student in Visual Studies at Pacific Northwest College of Art (2018). Julie has served in many roles at A6 including; volunteer, core instructor, Studio & Gallery Director, Interim Executive Director and artist member. Her recent work is exploring non-toxic electro-etching techniques and combining this with woodcuts as she continues to incorporate the Central Oregon landscape into the symbolism of place and our relationship with boundaries.

Julie earned her BA from the University of Washington and credits A6 as her art school in printmaking. Since moving to Bend, Oregon in 2009, Julie’s inner landscape has opened up to the spacious Central Oregon high desert. All of this informs her artwork as she looks to the patterns and textures in nature and recycled materials to create whatever comes out on the paper. Julie lets the printmaking processes themselves guide the direction of the finished work. “I love exploring all the marks possible with printmaking; it is endless and full of wonder.”
