Taught by A6’s Founder, Pat Clark
Sat, May 6-20, 9-1 pm
Expand your visual ideas and stretch your art-making practice with this special class series on abstraction. Patricia Clark enriches drawing instruction with a studied look at two art movements—Early American Abstraction and Abstract Expressionism. Each movement offers distinct form and space-making systems as they relate to abstraction.
This second class looks at Abstract Expressionism—how feelings and anti-object or figuration led artists to the emotional aspects of seeing surface, light, movement and form into another whole field of painterly process and composition.
Weekly drawing assignments will encourage students to embrace and define one’s own pictorial composition though examination of these movements in art history.
Saturday classes will consist of slide-based lectures and class critiques. Drawing/printing assignments will encourage students to pursue their own ideas and imagery. The instructor will be on hand for two open studio sessions each week (Mondays 5-7 pm and Wednesdays 1-3 pm) to offer guidance and further instruction. Supply list.
